Animals aRe First Fund (ARFF) is a specific welfare agency contributing 100% of your contribution to help pets at the Devore and Big Bear Lake Animal Shelters in San Bernardino County.
ARFF officially became a federally recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization in October of 2004. ARFF is supported by volunteer efforts. No funds are used to pay for salaries and wages.
Every year thousands of animals are admitted at Big Bear and Devore Animal Shelters. We are continuously looking to help animals in need. Our non-profit will continue to sponsor major adoption events in partnership with local community animal rescue groups. Our subsidized spay/neuter programs and microchipping have made adoptions much more affordable.
When you donate to ARFF, please know that every penny is used to help an animal in need. ARFF accepts donations from community organizations, shelter tour groups, schools, and individuals. Consider giving in memory of a loved one or pet, giving monthly, or sponsoring a fundraiser. Your donation is tax-deductible and will directly help homeless animals in your community.
Your Support Goes a Long Ways
One of ARFF’s primary programs has been to pay for subsidized spay/neuter surgeries for pets adopted during
the Counties special pet adoption events. We believe reducing the cost to adopt a pet encourages people to
adopt from our County shelters, compared to other options.
ARFF has also provided a variety of assistance to the County’s Animal Shelters in Devore and Big Bear Lake.
ARFF has purchased equipment, supplies and vaccines to directly help and aid the animals at these
facilities and has purchased humane education materials for students participating in responsible
pet ownership classes. ARFF has assisted in purchasing micro-chip scanners for each of the Animal Care
Field Officers to carry in their vehicles to aid in reuniting lost pets who are micro-chipped with owners.
